Multigrade Matters
Elizabeth,
ReplyDeleteI have seen a kindergarten and first grade multigrade classroom. First, part of the daily math time was included during the Daily Calendar routine. Next, both kindergarten and first grade students did a rotation of math centers that included math games designed to practice math facts for the First Graders and Number Sense for the Kindergarten students. Lastly, after the kindergarten students left for the day, the First Graders had an additional 30 minutes of math followed by a Social Studies/Science block. Earlier in the morning, all students received Guided Reading Group time based on their reading skills- not their grade level. If you want more information, just leave a comment with an email address and I will communicate more about this rotation.
